Lincoln loves his monkey Steve. He sleeps with him every night. Well, tonight he was holding him as I was getting ready to put him to bed. I was setting up the humidifier in his room for his cough, and laying out his pajamas and such. Then I got Lincoln dressed, we brushed his teeth while singing "Look up, look down, it's everywhere you see; let's take a walk in nature, come take a walk with me!" -from
Caillou. Then I put him in his bed, gave him his water, and I looked, but monkey Steve was nowhere to be found! "Where's your monkey Steve?" I asked him. Blank look. So I looked everywhere with no luck. I'm opening every cupboard, every drawer, looking under his bed, behind his mattress, in every room, in the bathtub, in the toilet, in the dirty diaper pail, frantically looking everywhere the monkey could possibly fit. I finally gave up. I gave Lincoln some more water told him he'll have to sleep with his doggie and put him down. He held the dog up to me while laying on his back saying slowly, "No. No." I put his other dog, and his stuffed kitty in with him too. I left and turned out the light. He started crying, then wailing. I started crying. What kind of mother am I that I can't find my baby's stuffed animal that he was carrying 15 minutes ago? I went back in and turned on the light he was standing up crying holding his doggie out over his crib. A frantic call to Brandon, a prayer, and 2 full house searches later monkey Steve is found (he was in the crook behind the open door of the upstairs bathroom). Lincoln is now put down and is supposed to be sleeping but is instead up in his room, in the dark, making happy talking noises to his beloved monkey Steve.
