WE'RE HAVING A BABY!

We are SO excited that we are expecting a little one on December 24th of all days!

It's interesting how we found out. I was having some sharp side pangs on my lower right abdomen for a few days and was trying to ignore it until I looked it up online and any sharp pangs indicated I should get emergency medical treatment because it could be appendicitis or and ectopic pregnancy (which is when the baby is developing in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus). So, I freaked out - and Brandon and I went to an emergency medical clinic, which told us that if I had either I would have to go to the emergency room, so they just sent me there and I didn't have to pay anything (I talked to the nurse, not the doctor). We thought this was a real blessing as we didn't have the $ to pay them.

So, we went to the ER, they did a urine test and the doctor came back to the room we were both sitting in and said, "Well, you're pregnant!" It was a total shock! They then did an ultra sound and found nothing. Then did another ultra sound with a different machine and found nothing as well.

So, they had me come back 2 days later and take my blood again to see if my hCG levels were rising normally (another sign of ectopic pregnancy is that the hCG levels don't rise normally) I did and everything was fine. They then did another ultra sound and found a 2mm gestational sac in my uterus and my ovaries looked fine. They said they could not confirm or deny that it was ectopic because it was less than 4mm and sometimes when it is ectopic your body will make a gestational sac in the uterus that is empty. They said I was 4 1/2 weeks along in my pregnancy.

So I was sweating bullets for a few weeks until my first doctor's appointment.

I then had my first appointment on May 12th at exactly 8 weeks and the ultra sound found a 12.5mm baby! It is now confirmed that it is NOT ECTOPIC and EVERYTHING IS FINE!

Here's the ultra sound picture they gave us at the appointment. We got to
see the heart beat and everything!

Again my due date is DECEMBER 24th, but it could be up to a month early because of an anti-anxiety medication that I'm on - it is known to cause slightly early delivery and slightly low birth weight. So, we will either ruin Thanksgiving or Christmas (according to my grandma Seymour) :) HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
